Avril Lavigne was battling Lyme Disease in 2014, in the midst of all the theories becoming popular in the United States. While she had almost experienced death, the rumors were piled up on top of her. She now laughs at the rumor, but when they were first popularized, she thought they were creepy and made her very uncomfortable.
In 2014, she first reacted to the rumor by claiming on one end, people would take pictures of her from the beginning of her career, and compare them to her now, saying she doesn't age, but then she has people claiming she isn't even herself. The whole theory confuses her and intrigues her, but she is getting tired of the 20-year-long rumor.
in 2024, she addressed the rumors on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast by saying, "It's not that bad. It could think it's like negative or anything," and "Obviously, I am me, it is so dumb."
This sparked major reactions on TikTok by fans claiming this is something Melissa would say, and some people even claimed they never believed the rumor until they saw the reaction.
But not all celebrities find the rumors about themselves silly or funny.
