Other Celebrities with Conspiracy Theories

Paul is Dead

Paul McCartney from the Beatles is known to be a victim of the body double conspiracy theory as well. Such a popular and well-believed theory that it is now considered an urban legend. "Paul is Dead."

This theory suggests that in 1966 (a very long time ago), Paul McCartney died and was replaced by a look-alike. Campuses across the United States blew up with this news, and it just exponentially grew from there.

So, here's the rundown:
1. Paul McCartney died in 1966 in a car crash.
2. There was subliminal messaging in their lyrics.
3. There was subliminal messaging in their cover art.
4. He looks different.

Sounds similar to the Avril one...

Well, the outcome isn't so comparable.

The rumor gained international attention in 1969, during their release of the Abbey Road album and in the middle of the disbandment of the band (the public had no idea yet). During this time, Paul was isolated from the rest of the band, John Lennon had announced he was leaving the band, and one of his daughters had just been born.

When the rumor became international, Paul, his wife, and his 2 daughters travelled to Scotland on his farm to get away from all of the public scrutiny. For many months, he was not seen, hiding away from the stress that was put on him.

He quit doing press releases and interviews to avoid it until he spoke with BBC reporter Chris Drake. Paul said that the theory probably looks even more believable because he had been secluding himself from the public eye.

Eventually, it died down when Life Magazine published a cover photo of him and his family working on his farm, but it remains as a psychological legacy to this day. Which I will elaborate on in another page.

Melania Trump

Now this theory is about First Lady Melania Trump. In 2017, a conspiracy started surfacing that the First Lady died and was replaced by a body double...

See the pattern?

This theory fluctuated in and out of different periods of Trump's first presidency. But started in 2017 when The Guardian columnist, Marina Hyde, tweeted she is "absolutely convinced Melania is being played by a Melania impersonator these days" and believes she and Donald Trump are not actually married. There are posts about Melania looking identical to a woman next to her in a photograph.

For 5 weeks, she was unseen in the public eye because of a surgery she underwent. Of course, social media users jumped right onto it and furthered more theories. To make things more complicated, the White House refused to make any comments on her absence, which made people eat this theory up. Once, Trump told reporters Melanie was watching him from a window. But when he pointed at the window, no one was there. And lastly, when she was done recovering from her surgery, the President welcomed her back but misspelled her name as Melanie.

This theory can be debunked by her having plastic surgery (which she has admitted to doing in the past) or the fact that she is the First Lady and is subject to rumors, hate, etc., and wanted to just not be seen.
